IT Project Manager

About The Job

As a key team member, the IT Project Manager is responsible for successfully managing and governing external and internal software and hardware projects through to successful completion utilizing recognized project management methods and processes while successfully engaging and working with others across the organization.

Projects include onboarding of new clients, upgrades such as core software, third party interfaces, certifications, legislative and mandatory type requirements.

The Project Manager is accountable for delivering solutions within typical project constraints. The Project Manager will also interact with external vendors, clients, senior management and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within identified scope, cost and execution commitments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and successfully deliver small to large, highly visible projects with high risk and complexity
  • Follow PMBOK best practices for each project from initiation through to implementation and transition into operational support
  • Set project team expectations, and clearly document project success factors
  • Incorporate quality assurance measures to ensure projects conform to project objectives.
  • Provide extensive communications to senior management and clients as required.
  • Implement efficient communication practices to ensure that the project team operates efficiently and effectively
  • Execute aligned to priorities; communicate with Senior Management for informed decision making
  • Analyze project risk and execute risk management strategies
  • Develop project charters ensuring alignment with business goals and defined project scope, deliverables, risk analysis and resource requirements; successfully manage ambiguity as appropriate
  • Manage the implementation of assigned projects to meet stakeholder expectations
Preferred Qualifiction
  • A university degree relating to the IT discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years in the IT industry, including 2+ years of Project Management experience preferably in the financial sector
  • IT recognized qualifications will be viewed positively
  • Formal Project Management training & accreditation (e.g. PMP; PMI)
  • Experience managing all phases of complex projects IT systems and software upgrades
  • A working knowledge of IT security concepts would be an asset
  • Possess a good sense of how business needs can be met through innovative technology solutions
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and listening skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to identify process gaps and initiate improvement opportunities
  • Good understanding of solution delivery processes
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Proven experience in authoring project initiation documentation
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with financial software implementations would be a definite asset
